really good bangs

The other day I was searching with my friend for nice haircuts online - I looked up Helena Christensen, as I thought her face shape was similar. Lo and behold, I found out that Helena Christensen seriously has the best hair over time - in particular, probably the best bangs of all time! I might also say that I really love every dress she wears too...take a look at some of the pics I've found...those are some beautiful bangladesh's, all right!!

romantic wild flowers by saipua

Today I feel a little wild, a little scatter-brained, I'm craving a little less structure, and little more sleep. Ok, alot more sleep. And when I get in this mood, I turn to Saipua to satisfy my eyes, the windows to my restless soul, so they say!! Joelle Bloomer pointed Saipua out to me a year or two ago, and I just love her florals. Ok, I'm inspired now, ready to get to work!

the bloomers kick off!

Tonight Joelle Bloomer and I got to hang with the cool soccer kids at Kick Off: Toronto FC Annual Dinner in support of Right to Play and Kidsport Ontario. The reason we got to go? inBloom Event Design donated the use of their big sandbox from Breast Darn Show Period where people had the chance to dig for prizes. Brother-in-law Petey was in charge of running it and as usual...it made for some fun times! While Petey worked away at the treasure hunt, we Bloomers worked our way through the crowd and had ourselves a bit of a blast...and a bit of a binge!

inBloom Event Design on the sign!

Some TFC Players trying their luck!

Shayna Bloomer having no luck as usual {slot machines break down when I'm around them!} but happy to support the cause!

After we stuffed our faces at the chocolate fountain we discovered there was a crepe station!!

my sock monkeys made me a birthday cake!

So, today is my birthday, and my boyfriend, Craig, made me the funniest, most satisfying gift ever!! Some background first: I really love my sock monkeys, and for a year now, I've been begging Craig, who is a filmmaker, to make a short film about them (their names are Mikey and Lil Jim, by the way). So now GUESS WHAT my birthday present is - a short film about my monkeys!!! It's so silly and funny, that it just tickles me pink every time I watch it. Take a look at the cutest and funniest little sock monkeys making me a birthday cake!! I hope Saturday Night Live sees this film and sees what a funny mind and comedic talent my Craigger has!!

party barns

Over the years, we've been desiring a barn venue to decorate whether for a wedding or party , and so we've saved up quite a few pictures for inspiration, for the day our dream comes true!! Take a look at some of our dreamy party barns...

love the wild textured nature of these florals, mixed with elegant dark wood chiavaris

love the mismatched chairs - the little white ones mixed in there are cute

barn weddings must have lots of lanterns or chandeliers! i love the rustic house numbers they used for this table setting

hanging big oversized lamps like this from the beams is a really awesome alternative to lanterns or chandeliers

sparklers for a barn wedding! now why didn't i think of that?!

i would like to paint a sign like this...

the dance floor here is outside the barn - cool!

To my friend, Brooke - this blog post is for you!

we heart chantal kreviazuk...and her kids!

I have to be a little honest, us Bloomers have a little obsession with Chantal Kreviazuk and we seem to find ourselves at her concerts about once a year! Last night she played at the new Richmond Hill Performing Arts Centre {which by the way is an AMAZING theatre space!} and true to form she did not fail to please us. She sang a mixture of new material and older songs and we just didn't want to leave - there is something about her live performances and stories that just draw you in and you want to sit there and listen for the rest of the night! Finally the dreaded moment came for the last song. When she came back out for the encore she brought her two little sons Rowan who is 5 and Lucca who is 4 {her third baby, Salvador, is only 9 months old!} and they sang "What a Wonderful World" with her. It was the best treat ever. Here is a pic of them...aren't they cute??

After searching around the net for some footage I finally found this posting on You Tube. Thank you whoever you are!! It makes me laugh and laugh! Don't they sound like Bob Dylan?!

and more wooden sticks...

More pics of the event we did at Wooden Sticks Golf Course in Uxbridge over the weekend (see post below!). We took care of all the details including floral and branch centerpieces, decor, stone placecards, and all the papery details including table numbers, and menus! {photography by Craig Morrison and Joelle Segal}

a new design blooms for inBloom!

So here are some shots of the weekend event we just did at Wooden Sticks Golf Course in Uxbridge. Despite the cold, hurricane-like winter storm, we managed to decorate the pretty tent, amidst fears of blowing away! We decorated the tent in a style we like to call "Woodland Chic" - fresh spring green and chocolate browns accented with branches with white blossoms, square white plates, and a natural white lighting effect on the walls of the tent for brightness (thanks to Adam at Pandor Productions) for a clean, but oh so inviting look. No one left their seats for hours! Take a look and breathe in the freshness of our woodland inspired design...inBloom has teamed up with Gervais Party Rentals to offer this design to all Wooden Sticks brides and grooms. Stay tuned, more pics to come! {photography by Craig Morrison and Joelle Segal }

PomLove

I just cannot get enough of Martha Stewart's paper 'puffs' {otherwise known as poms but I like to call them puffs}. They are such an easy way to decorate an event or even a wedding. In fact we used some to decorate the cocktail tent for a wedding this past fall and it is amazing how something so simple as tissue paper can create such a textured and festive effect! If you are feeling crafty, you can make your own with Martha's instructions here. Or if you are feeling a bit lazy {like me right about now...Friday afternoon} then check out these beautiful ready-made kits in from the Etsy store Pom Love...look at those colours! {found via Oh Joy}.

vintage circus wedding flowers

So, Shayna Bloomer's almost got all the details of her pretty vintage circus wedding figured out: high top cruiser tables, mismatched antique wood tables, our mom's vintage doily table runners, a doily "chuppah" between trees, and it LOOKS like she may have even found her big top tent (looks like a place in Stouffville is the only place that carries it - can you believe it? That's where our property is located!). And now, she's given ME the go-ahead to do whatever I want for her flowers. Oh, the ideas! I can't help but wonder if the craziest and quirkiest way to go is as simple as possible. It was Joelle Bloomer's idea to use craspedia (or billy buttons), as they seem to embody the notion of circus just in the way they look! Here are my thoughts:

What about just plain and simple billy button stems for some of the wood tables in mason jars or these simple white vases? {pic from Husmusen - it's in Swedish too, what's with Swedish sites lately?!}, juxtaposed with some wonky Queen Anne's Lace on the linened cruiser tables, looking all spindly like in this picture from Domino:

I think we have some Queen Anne's Lace in our garden even!

I adore this bouquet by Sweetwater, with billy buttons and celosia cristata. Now THIS looks circus-y, my friends. Maybe instead of pink, I could do some blues to match her wedding colours, although celosia doesn't come in blue... {posted on Style Me Pretty}

I'd like to make a bouttoniere like this for her fiance, Dan. It's cute and matches the quirkiness, but still not too over the top.{can't remember where I got this pic from}

one step closer to my circus wedding!

Circus-inspired tents are harder to come by then I had imagined! I've been researching for awhile but I finally feel like I'm getting somewhere. For my vintage circus wedding, I want a white tent that has a high peak like an old-fashioned big top tent. I also wanted it to be a circle tent but I had to give up that dream...every tent company I called had never heard of such a thing. Can you believe it?! In my world a circle tent would be a give-in.

Melanie Bloomer had the idea today of taking my doily chuppa desire and using it throughout the whole wedding as decor. It makes perfect sense...why hadn't I thought of it? So I feel as though its all starting to come together. I'll soon have my white tent, the doily chuppa, doily tablecloths, my old-fashioned popcorn maker, cotton candy, candy apples...I'm so excited!

Here are some tents that could most definitely work!

{loving this adorable tent with flag from Signature Party Service}{this could definitely be a circus tenty!}
