pretty trash

Look how adorably awesome these trash bags are. These would be perfect for our events! The thought of them perched on the curb for pick up makes me smile. The coolest part is that the project, which is called Any Color You Like was established as an art intervention for urban beautification and environmental awareness. According to the website, new artists create biodegradable bags to "transform standard piles of trash into vivid sculptures of color." Now that's design-cool!

fresher than fresh

Oh how I wish Toronto was in Kansas City right now! fresher than fresh is a snowcone business venture run from a little re-furbished 1957 Shasta trailer. Owner Lindsay Laricks travels around the city and bestows her gourmet snowcones at various events. And the best part is that she creates all of the organic syrups on her own, with fabulous flavours inspired by her organic garden {mmm green tea pear and blackberry lavendar}. What a treat this would be at an outdoor summer wedding! Her mascot, Snowy, is pretty darn cute too.

circus wedding photo shoot

We are getting to the final countdown for the circus wedding...only 6 weeks to go!!! So we are putting together our shot list for our photographers {Ikonica and Melanie Bloomer's sweetie Craiger Morrison}. I totally envision a whimsical photo shoot that makes use of all the vintage aspects such as the suitcases we are having as part of the decor, the tent and the "surprise" I can't tell you all about! I really really want to fashion a big family/friends photo op that is reminiscent of these vintage photos from circuses of the past. Bearded ladies, ring masters, strong men...you are all welcome...for the photo of course!

photo backdrops

I recently became fascinated by photo backdrops, and how different and unique they could be! I stumbled upon some really awesome options while seeking inspiration for head table backdrops. Turns out, there's not alot of head table backdrops out there online, and I wonder to myself, why do we even need a backdrop for the head table? At any rate, I think it would be cool to use any of these ideas as a head table backdrop as well, rather than the typical white swag with lighting. For instance, can't you just picture of row of potted flowers like pic 1, behind a whole head table? It would be so cool! Creativity is key, my friends...{pic 1 & 2 from Once Wed via Santa Barbara Wedding Chick via, Pic 3 from Santa Barbara Wedding Chic, pic 4 from Snippet and Ink, pic 5 from Design Sponge}

beachy bouquet beauts

I realized that I hadn't thought of a beach bouquet yet for the Israel wedding!! How silly of me! So I've been looking for a complimentary bouquet for my Kate Hudson/You Me and Dupree wedding dress and aqua shoes. The colours of the wedding are aqua and orange. I'm starting to think I might want a simple, white bouquet so everything except for my shoes is creamy white!

These are a couple of adorably delicate ones I found on Martha Martha Martha while searching today...

I know I said all white but there is something about this one that is gorgeous and colourful and would look perfect with my orange centrepieces!

nature-y jewellery

When I was hunting for a jewellery designer to create my wedding ring, I headed down to one of my favourite places in Toronto - the Distillery District - a wonderful artsy area of old distillery buildings converted into artist studios, cafes, great restaurants, and galleries. There are a few beautiful jewellery stores there as well, and I fell in love with some wonderful botanical pieces by Michael Michaud. Unfortunately Michael does not make rings or do custom work {I ended up discovering Kim Drosdick who designed my ring and she is was amazing! Highly recommended!}. However I still covet Michael Michaud's work and would love to own one of his pieces one day. Check out some of his amazing leafy and birch-barky cuffs and necklaces! Drool...

The Demistache

The Bloomers got these awesome "Demistaches" for the Circus Wedding. I feel so smart when I wear mine! They are just the delicate mustache you want for an evening out on the town...for those times when a handlebar might not be as appropriate.

my teal piano

I ALMOST bought this teal piano from the Habit to Humanity Re-store in Newmarket. When I walked into the store, my heart just dropped at the sight of it. As soon as I saw it, I realized that I'd always wanted, deep down inside, a teal piano. I could just picture it in the living room of my new house, the only pop of colour against muted colour scheme...it would contrast my espresso hardwood floors and white walls so perfectly! I could just picture my future kiddies learning to play on it. How fantastic would that have been! But the piano-repairman who came to look at it before I made the splurge said he wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole. It's all rusted inside and would take $3000+ to fix it to make it play-able. So sad! But hey, now that I know what I want, I will keep my eye out for another piano and just paint it teal myself!!

oh how i wish i could be her!

I was researching circus acts {as I more than occasionally find myself doing...} and found the most amazing act I've seen in a long time. I love this awesome woman! I'm going to have dreams of flying tonight that is for sure. I've done my fair share of crazy stuff in my life but in no way have I ever come close to competing with her. She might just be my new favorite hero! I wonder if she ever had a circus wedding?! Too bad she was doing this in 1936, otherwise I'd track her down and send her an admit one ticket to my wedding!! Oh and I think I would force her to be my friend too...just being honest.

big fish - inspiration pics for the circus wedding!

Ok, so, Shayna's famous vintage circus wedding is rapidly approaching, and inBloom is knuckling (that is a word right?) down to put all the pieces of the loverly design together. Be prepared for some frequent circus wedding updates! But, oh, there will be surprises indeed! One of the main inspirations for decor and style is the movie Big Fish. I especially like the way they've strung the lights in the third pic. Now if only we could figure out a way to make popcorn stop mid-air as Shayna Bloomer and Dan say "I Do"! Any suggestions?
