baby bloomer bump update: 7 months

Here we are again! Another Baby Bloomer Bump update. Holy smokers, 7 months! All continues to go well with the pregnancy though and I'm getting very excited to meet the little Bloom who is squirming, kicking, rolling in my tummy.

The nursery has been painted, and now it's time to decorate - my favourite part. I will give you a photo update on the nursery as soon as we organize and tidy and find a place for all of our wonderful baby things. Right now the room looks a tad like an episode of Hoarders!

french inspired table design

{Don't know where these pics came from...oopsies}

{found via Snippet & Ink}

I noticed I have started a bit of a collection of french-inspired table linens. There is something so cozy and lovely about using linens like this for a wedding. It has a great casual feel and really lends itself to a mis-matched look with various sized vases and pitchers used for centerpieces, a collection of random plates, glasses and cutlery. I just love the simplicity I guess.

neat wallpaper collections

Happy Monday, Bloomers! Over the weekend, I stumbled across these really awesome wallpaper collections by a designer named Deborah Bowness. They are custom-made rolls that are digitally printed with neat vintage photos on them ... so you can mix and match a whole vintage scene in your room! Weeee. My favorite is the wallpaper frock collection. But I love the lamps too. And the chairs. Oh, and the filing cabinets. And I love them all mixed together. Hee.

roxycakes

A few months ago us Blooms went to a wedding show where we saw the most beautiful wedding cakes that just stopped us in our tracks! Seriously, Roxycake's creations put the Cake Boss to shame. Roxy creates wedding cakes with the most glorious hand-crafted flowers, but also some pretty incredible themed cakes too, like the above purse, hamburger and shoe! And I'm a bit obsessed with the dress cake.

Funny enough, the very day after we met Roxy, we were contacted by a wedding magazine to create some themed florals and we learned that Roxycakes would also be working on the same photo shoot! The magazine article isn't out until the Fall but in the meantime, here is a peek at Roxy's beautiful cakes...or maybe I should call them sculptures? Also check out her website here, as it is quite lovely itself and the music is fun too.

Is it me, or am I always writing about cakes or cupcakes?

vintage posters

I mentioned awhile ago that along with the bathroom reno came a very tiny redecoration of our main living room/dining room/kitchen area. Really there was already red there, I just decided to add in pale yellow accents. I took off the existing painting that hung over the couch and so far we have lived with an empty hole for the past couple of months. D and I really want to get something but we were having trouble deciding what it should be. We recently decided we would both like some kind of vintage poster but it is deciding on which one that is the tricky part! I am obviously partial to the circus ones and I really like the ones with the women on bikes as it has such significance in the feminist movement. I really like the one with the woman holding the bike over her head but the colours are not really right for the space. And I also love the Circus Girl one - it seems to be more orange and black - I think I could make that work but it isn't quite the yellow/red I had in mind...but how can I not chose a Circus Girl?? The other thing to think about is that it is quite a large space over the couch that I think it would suit a horizontal print better - but not many posters come horizontal. Although the horizontal one with the bicycles on tightropes is pretty marvy! Ahhh this is hard!

school decor

i felt obsessed with this shelf for some reason...i loved the way they decorated it
a close up of the shelf...note the chalkboards and the colour letter blocks!

these clocks were so neat. i like the jumbled of them

a sample of their menu typography...also very modern

I found this pic of a dining room / office (can't remember where), but it reminded me of the decor in School...pretty cool eh?

For my birthday, my friend Emily took me to the cutest place for brunch, called School, in Liberty Village. It was so cute and the decor is awesome there. Not to mention the food is to die for! Everything was matte black and had chalkboards everywhere that looked like teachers' notes were scribbled on it. And they put an apple on a silver saucer at every table. Hee. It was so cool. It was cool like school! Hardy har har. Anyway, here's some decor from it. And then, I found another picture that reminded me of School but adapted to an actual dining room...should I change my house colours?! Told you I liked black!

cheeky feet

I needed an excuse to look at shoes...so I'm doing this for the brides out there. IF I were to get married AGAIN, I might opt for some of these fancy feet on my wedding!

If I were taller and could have gotten away with flats on my wedding{s} then I would have opted for one of these fancy flats. They are the right amount of fancy with a perfect splash of fun....and comfort!

These flats are on the J Crew website right now. I want them!!

I like the yellow and green. You could easily buy a pair of flats and add your own brooch to it so it matches your colours. These are found via Offbeat Bride.

Sigh...these are just special. Silk shoes from Charlie Max found via Polka Dot Bride.
Love the comfort heel! And like the adorable little stripeys on the heel too. These are from an online store called ASOS. Sadly it is in the UK but apparently the pricing and shipping is reasonable. I would buy shoes online from the UK for my wedding...it is after all your wedding and feet need to be number one. ASIDE: I bought my shoes from the US and had them shipped to a friend's fancy office in NY and then had him ship them to me in a lengthy but successful process. So successful that I then had a tiny top hat delivered to his office for the circus wedding and thought it would be hidden in a box but they shipped it in a clear bag and the poor guy had to explain the tiny top hat to the stuffy investment people. Ha ha! Anyways...I found these shoes on the Oh My Deer site.

And finally...all these glorious shoes come easily from J Crew! Enjoy!
