my favourite pieces of my house are ...
1. the wood chunk, which i pinched from my best friend Aliya when she moved overseas! it has become the center of my home...the truest discussion piece to date. she found it at a garage sale. she has the best nose for garage sale pieces, i swear.

2. my vintage one way sign, which i nabbed from an etsy dealer who happened to live in toronto! i got a sweet deal and free shipping!
...my own personal craigger (my hero!) RIPPED out the banisters (pictures of the original below). That's right! It opened the space right up and made it look so much bigger. He tore out the carpeting on the stairs, stained the tread caps to match our floors, painted the risers white, (all which were made by Tofino - a wonderful local door and trim company). And THEN with the help of our super friend Ryan, cut them to size, then he glued and nailed those effers down...and VOILA!
before and after:
Your 'before' stairs look exactly like our 'now' stairs...haha...I agree, yours are much improved!
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference! Amazing - looks so crisp and clean and designed. Love it :)
ReplyDeletewow! I think ripping out the banisters is the way to go! Not only does it look more modern, you have one less thing to clean! Can't wait to see more parts of your house, especially the kitchen!
ReplyDeletethanks! glad you all think ripping out the banister was a good idea. people really were questioning it at the beginning!
