ta da! our brand-new bathroom!

It's done! We finally have our glorious new bathroom finished and user-friendly! I know I'm not the greatest photographer but with the extra tight space and my not-so-pro point and shoot camera I don't think I'm doing it any sort of justice but you'll just have to take my word that it is gorgeous and better than we had imagined!

With our wall of mirrored cabinets the room looks twice the size and we also have three times the amount of storage! We haven't even figured out what to put on the top shelves of each! The double glass shelf in th
e shower was also a pretty marvelous touch as now we both have a place for our stuff without using the corners of the bathtub which always used to bother us. You'll note that the bottom one is mine and is much fuller! The top one is a bit blank but I'm sure I'll find a way to buy another shampoo to try and might borrow some shelf real estate!

The colours aren't completely true in this photo but the floor tiles are a grayish brown colour and the walls are a lighter version of the tiles. The "replacement" teak vanity is stunning and we are so happy we ended up with this one in the end. Also a nice surprise, our white glass tiles took on a grayish blue colour that although I wouldn't have chosen look so inviting and warm!

And the biggest surprise of all...we had settled on a super duper cheap tub that had a bit of a design on the apron {still hate that word!} but when our contractor pulled it out of the box it was absolutely PLAIN!!! Can you believe it?? We still don't know what happened but we definitely didn't ask any questions. We are thrilled!

vanity search is on...again!

So D. and I thought we were so clever...we had everything figured out for our bathroom reno coming up in February. We bought our perfect little vanity on sale from Gingers in November which led to the choosing of specifically matching tiles that required 2 separate trips to Gingers to get the colour right. We picked all the parts and accessories and were all lined up for second week of February, had our room booked at D's sister's place when low and behold Gingers told us that the vanity that started the whole renovation project wasn't going to be in until at the earliest end of February! Looks like everyone else liked the price and arranged their renovations around it as well! So, needless to say we aren't too pleased with the service we received, and we don't want to postpone our project any longer! So back to the drawing board, where on earth will we find an affordable, 27" wall-mounted vanity that will match the tiles we've chosen??

Well let me tell ya...looking through the exhibitors listing from last week's Interior Design Show I found these most beautiful vanities from a bath company called Decotec Paris Inc!

Now they might not be just everyone's taste so knowing we will be selling our place in next couple of years we didn't think this was quite the place for such a statement. However, I loved this company and decided to look and see which Canadian company distributed their products. This crafty super-sleuthing led me to another loverly discovery...Vienna Douglas Collection! And would you know that they carry beautiful {and affordable!} vanities that just might do the trick?! D. and I are going to check them out in person on Saturday...wish us luck!

and a bloomer bathroom reno...

Finally with the weddings over D. and I can finally get to our much anticipated bathroom reno! We've been talking about it for 2 years now...its the last thing left to do in our condo and we are excited to finally get it started. So we became like every other typical married couple and we did the home renovation store rounds a few weekends ago. We went to look at the tubs, vanities and toilets....and would you believe we fell in love with a vanity at the first store we went to?! And to top it off, it was on sale! So after checking out other options we went back and made the purchase on the same day. It is a grey oak wall mounted vanity with two lovely drawers instead of that useless cavernous cupboard they usually have.

It's so purdy...here it is but for some reason the grey doesn't stand out as much in this picture:

So then the next weekend came along and we did the whole married couple tour again and looked through hundreds and hundreds of tile samples. It proved to be tricky since the wood is a grey wash over the brown wood. Since the vanity is so striking we thought we should pick a really neutral tile. We are thinking a matte brownish g
rey colour.

And for the tub we found these awesome white glass tiles that look like they glow...so pretty and shiny! We want them to be 3x6 subway tiles. They don't glow the same on the computer though...

I'm having trouble finding inspiration pics to copy but in my searches I did find these loverly bathrooms...I'm looking for grey and white small bathrooms but it isn't that easy.
